ALL IMPORTS  -  KENYA  -  DESTINATION  INSPECTION  OF  All  EXEMPTED  GOODS  UNDER  PVOC

Kenya Bureau of Standards will streamline the management of exemptions under the Preshipment verification

of Conformity to Kenya standards (PVOC) programme for  products under the following categories:

-Consignments issued with Ministerial waivers from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives.

-Exempted products for the manufacturing industry ( Raw materials / Machinery / Equipment spare parts)

-Products issued with Diamond Mark of Quality.

This inspection will be necessary for the production of the local Certificates of Conformity (COC) which is necessary for the import clearance process.

Duration

Commencing  on shipment arriving in Kenya from 1st December 2016.

Impact

1.All import for client in the above mentioned categories will be subject to destination inspection prior to issuance of COC.

2.This process is estimated to take at least 0.5 – 1 day to complete and as such extend the lead time of clearance.

Reactive action plan
1.Importers will require to provide documents at least 3 working days in advance of shipment arrival to facilitate application and documentation as per this procedure.
